summer in February

Yesterday was amazing. The weather was absolutely perfect. And it just felt like summer. It's been cloudy, cold, and rainy here and yesterday was just the opposite. It was sunny, breezy, warm, and not even the slightest bit humid, with bright, blue skies. When I woke up, the sun was shining outside my window, instead of the usual overcast sky, and I was so happy to pull on a pair of shorts and a tank top and flip flops.  

 

School was twenty times more enjoyable because I was able to do it and soak up the heavenly weather. Sitting in the sunshine made me so happy and I have slightly pink skin to prove it. After finishing up school, my sister and I headed to Target, with the windows down and the music up. We had homemade hamburgers on homemade wheat buns with homemade sweet potato fries {my mom is the best} for dinner. Later, my mom and I embraced the beautiful day one last time and went for a walk. The night ended with American Idol and it was a great, great day. 

Throughout the day, it just felt like summer was in the air. There's those little things that make summer, well, summer and I caught glimpses of them yesterday. Waking up to warm weather, wearing flip flops, putting on sunscreen, sitting in the sun, driving with the windows down, eating dinner as a family with the back door open....All these little things that reminded me of those perfect summer days.

Of course, it was cold and cloudy and rainy and windy today. But it was nice, while it lasted, to experience a summer day in February.
