I love birthdays. Not only my own, but other peoples' especially. The month of December holds two birthdays for our family, my dad's and my sister's, with my brother's right around the corner in January. There's just something about doing things for others to celebrate what their life means to you on a day dedicated to them that makes birthdays so great. Special days reserved for special people.
My dad's birthday was last week and while his work filled up most of the day, we were sure to shower
him with fun surprises throughout the day, starting with balloons in his office in the morning and ending with a homemade dinner, dessert, and gift cards for daddy-daughter dates.
For dinner, we made him steak {a rare occurrence in our house}, potatoes, bread, and for dessert, I made him his favorite cookies, Samoas, with ice cream, instead of cake. The cookies were absolutely delicious. {You can find the recipe here.} After dinner and dessert, he opened his presents and we finished the night with a fun game of Scrabble.
